The aim of the research was to investigate the of decrepitation of three South African manganese ores in a rotary kiln preheating unit. The decrepitation index (DI) of each ore was measured based on three process parameters, namely temperature, rotational speed, and ore size range. The following conclusions were drawn from the results of the study.
